Have you taken our Mental Health Survey?

Launched this week, the survey is set to be the largest of its kind. It’s a follow-up to our previous mental health survey conducted among event promoters in 2018, and for this year’s edition, we’ve partnered with some reputable names.

The Night Time Industries Association, Music Minds Matter, Music Support, the Association of Independent Festivals, the Association of Independent Promoters (AIP), the Association of Electronic Music (AFEM) and the Music Venue Trust (MVT) are just a few of the organisations supporting the survey.

With the results, they’ll identify the regions and areas most in need of support, while we’ll create whitepapers, downloadable guides and handbooks based around mental health support for event organisers and industry staff.

So, if you haven’t yet taken the survey, we’ve put together a list detailing why we reckon it’s worth getting involved with. Keep scrolling to get the lowdown and hit the link at the bottom of the page to take the survey.

Your answers will help others

If you’ve sat down at a conference over the past few years, you’ve likely heard: the mental health of staff in our industry is dwindling and something needs to be done.

Our Mental Health Survey is a response to this crisis. We want to play our part in helping the mental health of industry professionals and with the responses, we’ll identify the regions and locations most in need of support.

So, by taking the survey, your responses will help others. Your answers will give us a greater understanding of who needs what support, meaning we can get the biggest picture possible when we come to create downloadable mental health resources.

Plus, it’s a chance to contribute to further research in the field. With more knowledge, we can create truly relevant resources, which, in the long run, helps everyone to thrive.

It’s a chance to reflect on your own experiences in the industry

We don’t really get time to stop and think in the events industry.

One minute, you’re sitting brainstorming ideas, and the next, you’re in the thick of your event making sure everything ticks over nicely.

A few days later, it might be a meeting for the following year’s programme of events.

Taking our survey is a chance to sit and consider your experiences over the years. If you’ve been in the game for a while, you might have seen attitudes change and had your own experiences to share.

And if you’re new to the industry? Well, we value that too. The experiences of a newcomer can differ from people who’ve been doing something for a while, and that range of opinion will help us best represent the events world.

Taking the survey is a form of advocacy

By taking our survey and sharing it with the people in your network, you’re advocating for an industry that puts mental health at the forefront.

The old proverb says: ‘It takes a village’, and when it comes to shouting about mental health, it definitely rings true. The more survey responses and shares we get, the more attention around the matter increases.

It gives you and other promoters a voice

While promoters and other event industry professionals do lots of the organisational work behind the scenes, they’re often left without a voice.

If you’ve ever felt that it’s hard to talk about the issues you’ve faced in the industry, our survey can help. Alongside the multiple choice questions, we’ve added a section where you can share what you’d introduce to your working environment to make a positive change to your mental health and well-being.

Here, you can be as honest as you’d like. If there is something on your mind about mental health in the industry and you haven’t had a place to say it, our survey can be the outlet.

You could encourage someone else to take the survey

We share so much on social media, looking at likes, shares, engagement rates and views as the barometer of how well our posts have been received.

But it’s important to remember: we never truly know who’s watching. Once you’ve taken our survey, we hope you share it far and wide on your social media profiles, which could lead to someone from your network doing the same.

But there could be someone out there who you rarely interact with who sees the post and goes on to take the survey. It could be from your network or one of your follower’s networks.

So, where do I take the survey?
