This year is flying by, right? We’re already three months into 2024, which means that promoters up and down the UK are preparing for one of the biggest periods in the calendar: festival season.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on our blogs and newsletters, you’ll have seen that we’ve been focusing heavily on festival content. We want to make sure you get the sales you deserve this year.

So, this week, we’re taking a look at how you can use 5 Skiddle features to maximise your festival’s ticket sales in 2024.

We think it’s helpful to think about maximising ticket sales as selling to as many different groups as you can. That could be customers who decide to buy at the very last minute, university students, people who are interested in the headline acts at your event and people who’ve been to your festival in the past.

By appealing to those people, you’ve hit a broad range of groups, which should help you to sell more tickets and ensure your event is a sell-out.

Maximise your festival’s ticket sales with E-Flyers

E-Flyers give you the chance to put your festival directly in front of people who are highly likely to be interested in buying tickets.

They’re sent out via email by our Account Support team and feature the flyer to your event, with links to buy tickets included. The targeting is based on a Skiddle user’s favourite genres, artists and location. So, if your festival is in Lancaster, we can send the E-Flyer to people within a 20-mile radius of the venue.

But how does using E-Flyers maximise your festival’s ticket sales?

Well, the people who receive the E-Flyer will live close to your festival, so they should be able to travel there and back easily. And, if the genres heard at your festival align with those they like, there is more chance of potential customers becoming fully fledged ones.

So, by using an E-Flyer to advertise your festival and sell tickets to them, you’ve sold tickets to a broad group of people, giving you more chance of the success you want.

Use Brand Alerts to maximise your festival’s ticket sales

Our Brand Alerts send news of your event directly to Skiddle users who follow the artists who are appearing at your festival.

These alerts can be sent via browser notification or push notification in the Skiddle app.

They’re a clever way to retain customers from your previous event. With Brand Alerts, everyone who buys a ticket to an event is automatically signed up to follow that brand. So, there’s a degree of familiarity with the people receiving an alert.

Of course, you always want to attract new customers. But ensuring that you have returning ones will help you in the long run, as managing to entice a large portion of last year’s customers will help to maximise your festival’s ticket sales. You’re advertising your event to more than one group of customers, building a loyal fanbase in the process.

Reps can help you maximise your festival’s ticket sales

Reps can help you sell tickets in new markets. It lets eventgoers sell tickets for your festival in exchange for cash or money can’t buy rewards.

Last September, millions of new students will have made the major cities of the UK their home for the next three years. This summer, they’ll be looking for a place to make unforgettable memories.

They can make those memories at your festival, and you can find them by using our Reps feature.

All you need to do? Advertise on your social media channels that you’re looking for ticket sellers and state that you’re looking for university students.

Then, let your Reps get to work. If your Reps are at university, it’s likely they know other students, and they can sell tickets to them. This could be a brand new market for you. They’re potential customers who haven’t been to any of your festivals in the past, meaning you’ve added another set of people to sell to, which will maximise your festival’s ticket sales in 2024.

Consider using Payment Plans

We’re seeing people’s buying habits change due to the cost of living crisis. They’re still attending events, but being more selective about them. This might mean they pick one big event for the summer rather than multiple events a month.

So, it makes sense to offer people a split payment option. Let’s do a quick thought experiment: Your all-time favourite artist is playing a show in six months, but it costs £170. If you’re offered the chance to buy the ticket and pay in instalments from now to the time they play, you’re hardly going to turn that down, right?

You can set this up with our Payment Plans feature. By offering a split payment option, you maximise ticket sales for your festival by appealing to people who would rather spread the cost over time. Without this, they may have excluded your festival from their thoughts, so it’s a no-brainer as far as we’re concerned.

Finally, why not enable PayPal Pay In 3?

Last-minute sales are also crucial in the sales cycle.

Now, we absolutely hope that you’ll sell out your festival with months to go, but there will always be people who decide at the last minute. It’s not a bad thing. People have commitments and sometimes, a spur of the moment decision leads people to buy tickets.

With our PayPal Pay In 3 feature, you can make that spur of the moment decision even more appealing. You won’t have to wait for customers to pay all of the instalments, you’ll get your remittance regardless.

This means that, theoretically, a customer could see your event a week before it’s due to take place and buy a ticket there and then. By securing last-minute sales, you’ve appealed to people who haven’t yet made a decision. If they use the feature, you will maximise your festival’s ticket sales by appealing to that group of people.

However, it’s important to note: PayPal Pay In 3 can’t be used on an event that is using Skiddle’s Payment Plans. We advise thinking about which feature works best for your event and going from there. This guide can help you make that choice.
