Welcome to Skiddle’s Promoter Update. This week, we’ll be giving you some tips on how to sell tickets for an event, showing you recent entries to the Promotion Centre blog and letting you know about a forthcoming event that’s perfect for promoters looking to connect with likeminded people.

Tips on launching your event this year

It could be tempting to launch your event with only one asset and hope that the strength of the line-up alone helps you sell tickets. This might work for the bigger event brands, but even they give a lot of consideration to promotion before their events are actually launched. Ideally, you want to give yourself six to eight weeks to promote an occasion, leaving ample time to build awareness, anticipation and hype through various posting strategies on your social media platforms of choice.

Let’s say you’re using Instagram. Create a post letting people know that the announcement of your event is imminent, attaching a poster with buzzwords designed to build suspense. Ensure you have a sign-up address at the bottom of your asset and a link to the landing page in your bio. When you release this, you can also make your potential customers aware of our ‘Remind Me’ feature, which lets your customers know about your event the evening before and 1 hour before the event goes on sale. This way, it’s virtually impossible to miss an onsale.

A week later, drop a teaser video with shots of the event location and an excited crowd, interspersed with relevant buzzwords stating the unqiue selling points of your event .

Next, host a competition. Upload a post with an attention-grabbing piece of content, instructing your followers to tag the people they’d like to attend. Ask them to share the post on their socials and follow your page if they haven’t already. Pick the winner at random, awarding them free tickets and merch. Reveal the location and announce the lineup day by day, and once you’ve sold out, create a post announcing this and tease your next event.

With a strategy like this, you’ve built anticipation by frequently teasing the details of your event, raised brand awareness by asking people to share your competition and used several assets to promote the event. This can help you secure sign-ups and sell tickets.

Night Time Economy Summit

In December 2022, the NTIA announced its Night Time Economy Summit in London, and the event is soon approaching – the 9th & 10th of February.  If you’re a promoter looking to connect with like-minded people, gain information from industry leaders such as Harvey Goldsmith CBE and Sacha Lord, and be a part of building the future of nightlife, this event is for you.

The summit sees Skiddle extend its partnership with the NTIA as they will be officially launching the National Promoter Society. The NPS is made by promoters for promoters and will give much-needed support and representation to event organisers across the UK.

Skiddle’s Duncan King will launch the National Promoter Society with a panel session on day 1 with promoters Hayley Squires, Sacha Lord, Jenni Cochrane and Pete Jordan talking about why a stronger, better network for the events industry is essential.

Over 300 promoters have already signed up to the National Promoter Society and you if sign up today you can receive 2 complimentary tickets to the summit – https://nationalpromotersociety.org/
