Calling all aspiring music professionals: our latest industry event, Inspired By Music, is just two days away.

We’ve been working hard alongside our good mates at GigPig to get everything in order, and we can’t wait to deliver it to you on Wednesday 20th March.

But ahead of the event, we thought we’d take a look at why Inspired By Music is essential for aspiring music professionals.

So, if you’ve been thinking about attending, this article is for you. Sit down, grab a cuppa and read all about why you should grab tickets and get yourself down to Manchester’s Band On The Wall this Wednesday.

You’ll be able to hear from esteemed professionals

We’ve put together a stacked lineup for Inspired By Music

Appearing on the night is Manchester’s DJ Paulette, who has spent years behind the decks, playing at legendary clubs like the Hacienda, Heaven and Ministry Of Sound, as well as winning the DJ Mag Top 100 Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.

Joining DJ Paulette is Danny Fahey, the mastermind behind the creative agency Thirty Pound Gentlemen. Elsewhere, Jemma Tanswell, director at Reform Radio and director of Neuron AV, Jonny Wharton will appear too. Hosting the panel is Victoria Jane, an independent artist and presenter of BBC Radio 1’s only R&B & soul show.

Each of our guests are trailblazers in their respective fields. They’ve navigated challenges, found solutions and applied creative thinking to their careers. All of this means they have gems upon gems to pass on to you, the aspiring music professional.

There are networking opportunities with speakers

Once the panel discussion has finished, you’ll be able to speak directly with our guests.

That’s your cue to think about your experiences and get an answer to the burning questions you’ve got about the industry.

Want to know how to promote your craft as a DJ? Looking for ways to use your skills uniquely? Curious to learn more about radio? We’re sure our guests can use their knowledge to help.

This kind of up close and personal interaction with industry professionals is hard to come by, especially when you’re just starting out.

You never know, one conversation at Inspired By Music could help you make the connections you’ve been looking for.

Our panelists have a broad range of experiences

Whether it’s appearing at legendary club nights like Flesh, nurturing the careers of some of Manchester’s brightest homegrown talents, creating a space for underground musicians to be heard or helping event brands expand through live-streaming, our guests will bring a broad range of experiences to Inspired By Music

They’ve each been in the industry for a significant amount of time, working with a range of artists, clubs and promoters in the pre and post-social media eras.

This means they’ll be able to compare and contrast how things have changed over the years and provide perspective to give you the advice you need.

Providing variety was a crucial reason our panellists were chosen. After all, you need a lot of skills to be successful as a music professional. Our guests will provide variety and then some.

You’ll meet like-minded people

Connections are vital in this industry.

So, as aspiring music professionals, it makes sense to attend an event where other people like yourself will be. You can meet, chat and share your experiences.

And you might find that your interests overlap, leading to a potential collaboration down the line.

If you’re an independent artist, for example, it helps to know other artists in your position. You can share tips, pass on helpful resources and share career wins with each other.

Eventually, you’ll have a large contact book. The chat you had with someone at Inspired By Music could end up helping you source a piece of equipment for a show in the future.

It’s free to attend

Yeah, you read right: Inspired By Music is FREE to attend.

We’re giving you the opportunity to hear from and chat with some of the brightest names in the industry and meet like-minded people for absolutely no cost.

Plus, if you stay around for the networking session later in the evening, you’ll receive a free drink. What more could you want?

Often, industry events with esteemed guests like ours would cost you an arm and a leg. However, we understand that accessible routes into the world of music and events are paramount to helping the next generation of professionals, so we’re delighted that we can deliver this event for free.

Inspired By Music takes place on Wednesday 20th March. Head to the link below to grab tickets. We can’t wait to see you!
