By Blair Potter | Mar 13, 2023

According to recent survey by Webex Events, 75% of event professionals agree that producing a high-quality event on a budget is a challenge. During MPI’s 12-hour Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) broadcast on March 30, the Webex Events team walk participants through ways event organizers can deliver creative and meaningful experiences during the constraints of today’s meetings landscape.

We spoke with Lisa Vogel, field and event marketing leader for Webex Events (formerly Socio), about the survey results, tips for creating unique experiences and what participants can expect from the GMID broadcast.

Can you tell us about a highlight from the survey Webex Events launched at the end of 2022?

Our survey showed that a staggering 75% of event professionals agree that producing an outstanding event on a tight budget is a significant challenge. Attendee expectations for in-person, hybrid and virtual events are higher than ever, which makes doing more with less even more important as event professionals craft their 2023 event strategies.

During our session at GMID, we'll share tips and tricks that can help you create captivating and impactful events that drive ROI, all without breaking the bank.

What do you hope participants will take away from your GMID broadcast session?

Our goal is for attendees to leave our session with practical and creative ways to exceed attendee expectations with budget-friendly in-person, virtual and hybrid events that delight attendees and drive sponsor ROI. Attendee expectations are higher than ever, but event professionals don’t have to break the bank to create immersive and high-quality event experiences.

Can you offer a tip for how meeting planners can create meaningful events with budget and staffing constraints?

Require your sponsors to have an experiential element like an ice cream bar or a life-size puzzle at their booth or offer it as a premium opportunity. Events are now a major revenue driver for sales, so involving sponsors in a more meaningful way not only adds value for attendees, but also potentially generates more revenue. By making this a win-win situation, you’ll save resources and make your event more engaging and memorable for everyone.

Can you tell us about a 2023 trend meeting professionals should be paying more attention to?

Engaging attendees during an event is crucial, but according to our survey, it’s a challenge for 57% of event industry professionals. So, how can you overcome this hurdle and make a lasting impression on your attendees in 2023? Event platform features like Q&A, polling, networking and even fun elements like gamification, photo booths and whiteboarding make events immersive for attendees and provide even more visibility for sponsors.

With most in-person events now using mobile apps, partnering with the right platform can make all the difference. By leveraging event tech to its fullest potential, you can boost attendee and sponsor participation and create a truly unforgettable experience.
