What is your typical day like?
My day starts with morning snuggles with my three dogs before we head out for our morning walk. As a person of faith, I find peace in my daily mass service. Once I am back home, I start getting ready for the day, which can vary from day to day. I do try to keep two days dedicated to the office and two days for meetings [in person, zoom] as well as networking events. Most days, we are done by late evening, allowing for doggie walks and the gym! If traveling for an event, the day unfolds as needed. Saturdays are reserved for wedding days, of course!
How did you get started in the industry?
Ironically, my career unfolded by happenstance. My bachelor’s degree was in Radio/TV, with a minor in journalism – so, nowhere near my career path. After internships and jobs in newspapers, TV, and Radio stations, I realized journalism was not the highest paying job and involved living in remote small towns to catch a break, as my goal was to be a national TV news anchor. The dream was no longer a dream, and took a detour in the O&G industry before taking up the hobby of baking and decorating cakes. This hobby quickly turned into a side job, which developed into a full-time business. Services were later expanded to floral design [self-taught] and eventually into event planning. A few years in, I decided to rebrand the business and focus exclusively on event planning. My passion was in the design, planning, and execution of events, creating something unforgettable for couples. We recently rebranded the business to align with our current vision and style.
What inspires you?
This will sound cheesy, but LOVE inspires me. Planning weddings can become jaded, so I like to stay inspired by the human connection. Each of our weddings is personalized to each couple, so they inspire me. For design and fashion, I look abroad to Mexico and Europe for their design and aesthetic.
Additionally, travel feeds my soul, from the architecture to the food and the people. I believe everyone should invest in traveling.
Successful business owners not only inspire me but push me to be better. I love learning from their stories, and understanding how perseverance always pays off.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Planner’s Lounge is a wonderful resource for planners. [www.plannerslounge.com]
Tony Robbins is a great business coach [www.tonyrobbins.com]
Maria Bayer is an amazing sales coach [www.mariabayer.com]
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
I love to travel any chance I get; nothing is more inspiring than seeing and learning about our world. Europe and Mexico have my heart for their food, culture, and landscape. Take me to the mountains or the beach; I enjoy both!
If I could travel with my three dogs without complications, we would be nomads. Seriously.
If not traveling, I enjoy a delicious cup of French Press coffee, a robust Cab, or a hot cup of lemongrass and chamomile tea.
