The glittering lights of the city’s skyline served as the perfect backdrop to an evening of sophistication and camaraderie as event planners from across the industry gathered for a black-tie affair at The Globe and Mail Centre. An “Evening at the Globe” proved to be a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired and invigorated with new ideas and connections.

From the moment guests stepped into the venue, they were greeted with an ambiance of refined luxury. The grandeur of the space was accentuated with intentional “design moments” from Artam Design Inc. expertly complimenting the natural beauty of the space. From a symphony of verdant hues, Opening Night Flowers structural floral installations, colourful furniture pairings from Detailz Couture Event Rentals, and Eventure Design‘s cascading gold drapery – there were added touches of glamour to every corner. The attention to detail was undeniable, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. A huge thanks to Mango Studios and Peek Media for all of the gorgeous images that captured this most magical evening.

After a quick hello to the team at Sentinel Security Plus, the doors opened to the 17th floor and a vibrant yellow carpet from Reznick Event Carpets drew the guests toward the action. Hints of yellow, gold, green, and black mixed with the radiant lighting designed by EPiQVision reflected off the metallic accents of the space and truly made the space feel warm and inviting.

One of my favourite parts of the evening were the interactive moments. Sourced by The Idea Hunter, the music of an incredibly talented violinist flowed throughout the space as guests mingled and caught up with one another. Complimented with music by Michael Coombs Entertainment, the venue always felt full of energy and excitement.

Functionally and aesthetically, the bar served as a natural gathering point from which the evening commenced. Beneath the lucite hanging panels installation by Marquee Marc, we started with a refreshing Passion Picante from Cocktails & Dreams. The habanero lime mixed with passion fruit and tequila was the perfect combination of spicy yet sweet and refreshing. The attentive staff team DGS Events circulated throughout the space helping keep the event immaculate throughout the course of the evening.

Of course, no black-tie affair would be complete without exquisite catering and cuisine and this event certainly did not disappoint. Attendees were treated to a culinary journey, with an array of gourmet delights – both passed hors d’oeuvres and mains – from eight of Toronto’s most notable caterers. The caterers went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met, demonstrating a genuine passion for their craft along the way. With such an array of menu items available, guests were able to easily navigate the respective offerings thanks to the bold signage from Paper & Poste. It’s also worth a very special shout out to industry leader Chair-man Mills and Event Rental Group for providing all the plateware and associated rentals.

It’s hard to list everything here, but each caterer offered up a variety of canapés such as McEwan Catering‘s Seared Lamb Loin, Oliver & Bonacini Catering‘s Butter Poached Lobster, Presidential Gourmet‘s Compressed Watermelon Margarita, Eatertainment Special Events & Catering‘s Steak & Olive Oil Poached “Frite” and Alo Restaurant‘s Burrata Tartlet. When it comes to mains, Toben Food by Design served up a Lobster-Lump Crab Croquette, a crisp exterior paired perfectly with a succulent centre bursting with flavour. Next up was Oliver & Bonacini’s Charred Cipollini & Beef Cheek. The fresh herb flavour profile perfectly complemented the tender beef cheek and parmesan tuile. McEwan’s culinary team offered a perfectly cooked Halibut which was light and flaky. The Food Dudes’ Oyster Rockefeller was oh-so-tasty and their Truffle Waldorf Salad that was bursting with flavour. Alo’s Ricotta Agnolotti definitely left us wanting more with its rich flavours and textures. The subtle creaminess was infused with a distinctive nutty taste which elevated the overall flavour profile. As for the sweet confections, there was something for everyone. Toben’s Pistachio baklava, Alo’s decadent Petit Fours, Gusto 54 Catering‘s Espresso Martini Gelato, Presidential Gourmet’s Mini Cakes and Food Dudes Surprise Chocolate Piñata Smash Balls were sure to satisfy even the most indulgent sweet tooth.

As the evening drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in the air. For event planners, this was more than just a social gathering—it was an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow both personally and professionally. As they bid farewell to new friends and old acquaintances alike, they did so with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm, ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the upcoming season. A huge thank you to the team Globe and Mail for all their efforts in hosting what was undeniably the industry event of the year!
