One of the topics discussed on the Conference and Creativity stage at last year’s Event Tech Live was conducting events without using any event tech.
Cvent’s business development manager, Nick Tinker, moderated the panel that consisted of Blitz’s MD and former director of TMB Events, Zak Roby, and Farnborough International’s former account director, Carlo Zoccoli (now head of venue sales).
Drawing from their shared experience spanning over two decades, the pair began the talk with a brief explanation of their own businesses and job roles.
The areas of the topic that our speakers touched upon included the event lifecycle, reliability of technology and its fundamental uses in driving ROI.
Stating that some types of technology can merely be “gimmicks”, Zak explained that technology needed to add immersive value to an event before it should be considered. He continued to explain that the technology shouldn’t overshadow the event itself – attendees shouldn’t be leaving an event with only the technology stuck in their minds, else the rest of the event (panels, discussions, demonstrations, etc.,) would become negated.
Carlo proceeded to explore different types of event technology, using his experience to justify his opinions on certain trends. He cited gamification as a “prime” feature for events to engage audiences, though it may not be as “widely used as people make out.”
Event Tech Live, Europe’s only free-to-attend show dedicated to event technology will return to the Old Truman Brewery on 6th-7th November 2019.
