Andrew is the director of ESSA a trade association for the very best suppliers and service providers to the business events world. Passionate about representing his members on the UK and global stage as the best in show, his focus has always been on raising the benchmark within the world ESSA operates, whether that be from a representative or safety perspective, skills/education or sustainability. Believes we get better by measuring and taking time to understand where we are now.

How long have you worked in the events industry?

Directly 11 years, indirectly 15.

What have been the stand-out moments of your career?

Creating and launching ESSA Accredited

What do you love most about the Event Industry?

It’s ability to bring people together

What was the last event on which you worked?

ESSA Conference, dinner and awards late 2021

Who has inspired you in your career?

Too many to mention…I try to take a bit from everyone I meet, the good and the bad. I’ve probably learnt more by witnessing peoples mistakes.

What do events, such as the ETAs, mean to you?

I’m all about stats and measurement. Awards are a celebration but they also allow you measure how far you have come or maybe not. So awards for me give you the ability to stop and take stock, important in business and life.

The world would be a pretty dull place if we didn’t recognise great work/achievement. Aspiration is good, regardless of what you’re doing.

What would you like to see in this year’s entries?

I always like to see the personality of the individual or business come through in an award entry.

What is the one piece of technology you can’t live without?

Fire stick.

The Event Technology Awards celebrate excellence in event technology. Entries are open now, find out more info here
