As part of our commitment to championing the industry, we are talking to people about their careers and what IEM means to them.

Matt Grey has 25 years experience in agency, from ops, through Account Director and into BizDev/Management with brands such as Banks Sadler, Grass Roots, Fisher Production and INVNT.   He now runs the industry’s only measurement specialists EventDecision – helping planners make better decisions.

Q What does the IEM mean to you?
A At the moment, looking at how IEM can potentially standardise a hugely diverse range of criteria, internally and externally, in a recognisable way.

Q Why did you decide it was important for you to get involved?
A I believe that with the forced emergence of digital and increase in visibility of sustainability within the industry, now is the time to try and establish some recognised standards.

Q Where do you hope to see the IEM in 20 years’ time?
A Industry standards recognised by employers and clients – some rigorous standard across a very diverse industry.

Q What is your favourite event related memory?
A Clients’ faces as each event, around the world, large and small, concludes. The relief that it’s not ‘gone wrong’, the anticipation of recognition for their work, the realisation of maybe a day off…..and then on with the next one!
