Anaheim Convention Center Hosts First Annual Charity Disc Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Local Community

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Convention Center has helped raise $5,000 for Anaheim families and nonprofits at the first annual disc golf tournament on Dec. 13.

The Convention Center, the largest exhibition facility on the West Coast, played host to the contest, with money raised going to the nonprofit Anaheim Community Foundation.

The 18-hole disc golf course weaved throughout the 1.8 million-square-foot Anaheim Convention Center campus, taking participants from “The Clubhouse” in the Lobby Arena, out to the Grand Plaza, inside the Convention Center Halls and beyond.

“As our community continues to recover from the devastating impacts of the pandemic, we’re happy to give back in any way we can,” said Tom Morton, executive director of Anaheim Sports, Conventions and Entertainment. “The Anaheim Community Foundation has been a major help to struggling residents throughout the past two years and the money raised at this event will help so many people.”

Seventy-two disc golfers participated in the fundraiser, representing numerous local tourism and hospitality organizations and businesses throughout the area. From the Anaheim Convention Center to Visit Anaheim to Disneyland Resort, staff throughout the industry rallied together to support the local community.

“Participating in this event was a great, and fun, way to directly giveback to our local community,” said Junior Tauvaa, chief sales officer for Visit Anaheim. “This was a special opportunity to come together with our colleagues and raise money for programs that will directly benefit our local residents.”

As a vital part of Anaheim’s visitor industry, the Anaheim Convention Center has begun a safe and responsible return to conventions, shows and exhibits. In a normal year, Anaheim hosts more than 1 million attendees a year at the convention center, generating revenue that funds essential services such as public safety, parks, libraries and community centers for residents and businesses.
