IACC, the global association representing the top 1% of small to midsize conference and meeting venues, has today released its latest Meeting Room of the Future report, which collates industry insights and data on the recovery of the global business events sector with IACC members experiences, opinions and concerns related to the industry.

As widely predicted, issues such as rehiring and reskilling the venue workforce continue to cause venues to place limits on business before reaching usual capacity. This latest report also highlights several other key findings including streamlining the sales process for smaller events and automating sales through online bookings.

Mark Cooper, CEO of IACC commented: “The start of 2022 has shown some excellent progress in recovery however, there are still some key areas where venues need support, particularly in staffing. IACC will support its members and community over the next year, by providing important personal and professional development opportunities as the industry continues to repair the skills and knowledge shortfall that exist.

I would also like to thank our industry partners Cvent, Oxford Economics, CBRE, the Events Industry Council and Encore for sharing their data which was instrumental for IACC in compiling this report. Furthermore, we are grateful for the financial support of our 2022 partners, who invest in our research”.

IACC’s Meeting Room of the Future initiative reports on insights from meeting professionals, IACC venues and industry experts from three different continents. This edition of the report was created by IACC, in collaboration with industry research and data sources including Cvent, CBRE, Encore, Events industry Council and Oxford Economics.

IACC’s extensive stakeholder group across 23 countries allows the association to identify and deliver important perspective on the pace of the recovery, for IACC certified conference and meeting venues.

The next quarterly IACC Meeting Room of the future Barometer will be released in November 2022.
