This year, the event industry is undergoing a true revolution with performance likened to pre-pandemic levels. To make the event organiser’s life easier, Eventscase has leveraged AI technologies and even took it one step further this month.

The birth of EVA

April was the month chosen for the birth of EVA, our new virtual assistant on WhatsApp. This new functionality is a game changer. This tool uses artificial intelligence to facilitate everything from badging to real-time interaction, significantly improving the attendee experience at events. Moreover, attendees don’t have to download a new app or learn how to navigate it. It all happens on Whatsapp, the world’s most widely used instant messaging service.

It is worth nothing that EVA learns and nurtures from event-specific information and is able to answer attendees’ questions using natural language.

We were determined to launch this new tool in a real event and we chose the celebration of GMID 2024 and the sixth edition of the Iberian Awards by MPI Iberian Chapter as its premiere.

As attendees received QR codes via WhatsApp, checking in and the collection of personalised badges became an absolute breeze. EVA also sent information about the agenda, awards, room locations and services as part of scheduled notifications. Lastly, a link to a post-event survey was provided.

Recognition in the MICE sector

As mentioned, we became part of the GMID 2024 and the sixth edition of the Iberian Awards of MPI Iberian Chapter. It was held on 11 April at TBS Education Barcelona.

This great gathering for the MICE industry was not only the event of choice for the launch of EVA but also a unique opportunity to reconnect with outstanding members of our industry. The awards ceremony recognised valuable professionals who, from different perspectives, have contributed to a stronger, more diverse, and more innovative industry.

Below is the list of award winners:

  • MICE LEADER: Christoph Tessmar (Director of Barcelona Convention Bureau)
  • YOUNG EVENT PROFESSIONAL: Nadia San Onofre (PhD in Nutritional Public Health)
  • SENIOR EVENT PROFESSIONAL: Belen Mann (IFEMA Convention Director)
  • ESG RESPONSIBILITY CHAMPION: Patricia Méndez (CEO of BioEvents, Eventos Sostenibles)
  • INNOVATION CHAMPION: Arturo Castelló (CEO of EnCom)
  • MPI AMBASSADOR: Beatriz Osorio (Co-founder of MSMR Agency)
  • EVENT INDUSTRY ENTREPRENEUR: Raúl Calleja (Co-founder of SHOW2BE)

  • SHATTERING THE GLASS CEILING: Esther Guilabert (Secretary General of the Confederación Empresarial de la Comunitat Valenciana)

Many thanks to MPI Iberian Chapter for inviting us to this event! It was a great day filled with camaraderie, relevant conversations and celebration.

Emerging trends for 2024

In terms of our role as an observer, we have released a whitepaper on emerging trends in the events industry for 2024. Technology and sustainability are front and centre. We are moving towards more immersive and environmentally friendly events, something that will undoubtedly change the way we organise and attend events.

In this new report we have talked about:

  • Impact of technology
  • Trends in sustainability
  • Personalisation and experience
  • Hybrid events

The importance of lifelong learning

This month we also participated in training sessions with the Spanish associations we collaborate with. The AEVEA Lab in Barcelona and Madrid, which focused on customer experience, and the EMA Learn in Madrid, which delved into artificial intelligence, both used Eventscase for registrations and streaming. It is clear that in order to stay up to date and competitive, continuous training should always be pursued.

To conclude this review of Eventscase’s current affairs, we are going to share a helpful realisation… “Adapting and innovating are not only necessary to survive. They are also essential to lead in this sector.” See you next month!
