virtual events, our top tips!

virtual events, our top tips!

As many of our clients are looking to host their events virtually in the first part of next year, we thought it was a great time to remind our readers of our top tips for hosting a virtual event. We’re an experienced team when it comes to virtual, you can read more about our comprehensive offering here: https://www.sevenevents.co.uk/virtual-events-company/

top tip #1: start with the end in mind
when it comes to the planning process, our first question will always be “what are you hoping to achieve?”. it’s important that you have a clear idea of your objectives and how your audience should think, feel and what they should action as a result of participating.

top tip #2: select the right platform
there are a host of options out there, so do your research. we find the best platforms offer the option to broadcast seamlessly, allow guests to arrange 1-2-1 meetings and come with interactivity features such as Q&A and polling. Last year we launched our very own platform, hubseven, find out more by visiting https://www.sevenevents.co.uk/virtual-event-platform-hubseven/

top tip #3: consider pre-recording
pre-recording part of your virtual meeting in advance can really help to ensure the broadcast is successful. this works particularly well if your speakers are nervous or if you are unsure about the internet connection and ensures all topics and covered correctly.

top tip #4: nominate a virtual host
ensure you have a member of the team available to host the meeting. they should welcome attendees, monitor the chat box and filter any questions through to the speakers. this allows the speakers to concentrate on delivering their presentation confidently!

top tip #5: create an engagement plan
pre-event communications should be informative and build excitement, just like an event invite would. work with your speakers to develop captivating content and remember that the ideal length of a virtual talk is around 7 minutes, so be concise. utilise features on your platform, such as interactive polls, live q&a’s and word clouds to keep delegates engaged. finally – ensure that you share any slides or important details promptly post event, encouraging the conversation to continue once the meeting has finished.
