In this week’s update, we’ll be informing you of the latest news whilst sharing some of our various different department’s performance statistics from the first quarter of the 2022/23 financial year whilst – including Account Management, Business Development, Marketing and Content. We’ll also be covering the ongoing AB testing of our brand new group pages as well as looking at a game-changing new feature recently made available on the Skiddle Promotion Centre.

Development

Following the recent introduction of the newly designed Festival Guides page, which you may have seen and read about in some of our previous updates, our Development team have reported a substantial uptick in traffic, conversions and sales. Comparing the four weeks prior to the new Festival Guides launch to the four weeks which followed, we’ve observed a 38% increase in traffic to said festival guide pages, with a notable 53% increase in ticket sales and overall, an 11% increase in our conversion rate.

We’ve also seen a 23% increase in the number of festival keywords ranking in the top 3 positions of Google, with a 16% increase in the number of festival keywords ranking on page 1.

Our Development team are continuing to make changes to landing pages across the Skiddle website to improve our site speed and give customers the best possible online experience.

Account Management

Festival season is customarily an incredibly busy period of the year for the Account Management team at Skiddle. This year especially has brought its own challenges for the team with an oversaturated festival market, following the pandemic, and the cost of living crisis combining in something of a perfect storm for live events. However, the team knuckled down and worked hard to assist the majority of accounts over the line, pushing some great last-minute sales.

With regards to account development, the team recently secured allocation for Carl Cox’s ‘Awesome Soundwave’ concept tour beating Ticketmaster to the post, whilst surreal event brand, Foreverland moved over to us from Festicket. Leading drum n bass name, Hedex has listed some of his UK tour dates with us, due to our existing working relationship with the DnB Allstars team, and a special mention goes out to Ewan McVicar, whose ‘Coming Hame Tour’ sold out in less than 10 minutes earlier this week.

In addition to the above, our accounts team have also welcomed a list of new contract renewals from some of Britain’s biggest event names, the likes of Colours Glasgow, M&G events and AGP, to name a few.

Business Development

The Business Development team have enjoyed yet another recording-breaking start to the financial year. Year-on-year growth from July 2021 to July 2022 has shown a 46% increase across the business. Here’s a breakdown of the highlights:

The ‘Lifestyle’ department has welcomed Fear Factory Events, purveyors of live-action horror experiences, as well as Skyline Boat Tours and Glasgow’s biggest scare series, Spooktacular.

Our ‘club & live’ departments have expanded their database with Yorkshire’s newest event space, FØRGE Sheffield, joining our extensive directory of venues, as well as Glasgow’s infamous Firewater and The Old School House & Courtyard in Hull. Sylo Events have also signed with Skiddle, recently listing dates for Hedex’s ongoing tour of the UK and Europe, whilst our ‘Festivals’ department rolled out the red carpet for one of the North East’s biggest festivals, Loosefest, plus Glasgow’s 14,000-capacity open-air event, Riverside.

Marketing & Content

This month, the focus of the Marketing & Content team lies firmly on Freshers Week 2022. A nationwide marketing campaign is set to launch this month supported by an army of Skiddle ambassadors in 20 university towns and cities UK-wide. If you haven’t already listed your Freshers Week events, now is most certainly the time.

Aside from Freshers Week, the team are working closely with the NTIA (Night Time Industries Association) to launch the National Promoter Society – more information surrounding this partnership coming soon – and beginning preparations for the coming barrage of seasonal events. It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas and New Year’s Eve! Get your events ready for what’s set to be a busy autumn/winter period.
