Event Tech Live 2019: How Tech Savvy Should Event Planners Be?

event tech Live 2019

How tech savvy should event planners be these days? How much responsibility should they have around event tech investments – when they already have so much on their plates? Do they have the skills that help them manage event tech effectively? Or is it time for the industry to recognise the need for ‘event technologists’ – a new breed of event professionals whose job focus is exclusively on all things technology?

These are some of the questions Eventsforce and industry experts will be addressing in a panel debate at this year’s Event Tech Live show, which is set to take place in London on 6-7th November 2019.  The discussion will focus on the findings of a new research study from Eventsforce which will be unveiled at the show and suggests a growing ‘technology skills’ gap in the events industry.  The panellists will also debate what organisers and tech providers should do to address the challenges around event technology.

The panel session, titled ‘Are Event Planners Struggling with Event Technology?’, will be moderated by Michelle Bruno, US-based event technology journalist and president of Bruno Group Signature Services and bring together event experts from Eventsforce, British Council, Coventry University and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

“The scale of innovation in event tech has really been quite astounding over the last decade. And organisers have become a lot more tech-savvy as a result.  Our research, however, shows that organisers are facing a lot of challenges when it comes to their understanding, uptake and management of event tech,” said Ian Webb, Head of Business Development, Eventsforce.  “We hope this session will kick off a much-needed discussion on where the industry is heading over the next few years and how organisers can best go about in managing the technology they use around their events.”

Eventsforce will also be exhibiting at the two-day event, which is set to host five stages, 150 exhibitors and more than 70 educational sessions.  Organisers attending the show can test their event tech knowledge with a fun, interactive quiz at the Eventsforce stand (1303).  They can also get a hands-on demo of the Eventsforce self-service check-in solution, as well as meet the team for a chat about their event tech requirements and the impact of trends such as personalisation, data management, GDPR and data security.

The ETL panel session, titled ‘Are Event Planners Struggling with Event Technology?’ will take place on Thursday 7th November, 10:00-10:30am at the Expo and Engage stage.
