What Planners Are Getting Wrong About Video Content

Signifyd's Sourabh Kothari on how event planners go wrong with video — and how to do it right.

Sourabh Kothari, DES, thinks videos are killing your event — at least, when the video content that’s added to live sessions isn’t chosen thoughtfully. Kothari, director of advocacy, brand, and content for Signifyd, a software company, believes that event organizers and speakers alike fall into the trap of believing that any video will enhance a session’s message. But actually, the most of the video content “is not that great,” Kothari told Convene‘s David McMillin at Convening Leaders 2018.

“Most videos are too long, they’re too boring, they’re instantly forgettable — so as soon as you bring the lights down in the session,” Kothari said, “people are checking email.”

For advice on how to create memorable video content at events, watch the interview with Kothari above.
