A LAS VEGAS SUPER BOWL COULD CLASH WITH TRADE SHOWS: Las Vegas expects to be able to host the Super Bowl in 2022 or 2023, with a new stadium and ample hotel rooms to host fans, but the timing could be a bad thing for major trade shows and conventions that meet in the city leading up to and during the game. Las Vegas Review Journal: "When the N.F.L. comes to town for a Super Bowl, planners and executives arrive more than a month ahead of the game and start hammering out logistics. In that month ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, Las Vegas hosts CES (170,000 people in early January), the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoors Trade Show (61,000 in mid- to late January), World of Concrete (60,000 in late January), and the Las Vegas Market furniture show (50,000 in late January) 'The Super Bowl is a good thing and a bad thing that we only get the opportunity to host every five or six years,” said Paul Anderson, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the chair of the committee. “Absolutely it would increase (traffic), but is it a slow time of year? WHY COLUMBUS, OHIO, IS SKIPPING COLUMBUS DAY: Ohio's capital city will not observe the holiday that honors its namesake, the explorer Christopher Columbus, with officials citing a lack of resources to pay for the day off. USA Today: "City offices are instead scheduled to close on Veterans Day in November, though a spokesperson for the mayor's office said the decision was not spurred by movements to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day, a counter-celebration held on the same day to commemorate Native Americans. ... WEDDING PLANNER'S ONLINE FIGHT WITH BRIDE GOES VIRAL: After an unhappy bride left a poor review on her wedding planner's Facebook page, the planner fought back with a scathing review of the couple, and now the situation is making news worldwide.
