Arjun Chakravarti, Ben Olson, and Ann Marie Burke

GES, a provider for live events, has announced three new appointments. Arjun Chakravarti has been named senior vice president of analytics and solutions; Ben Olson has been named vice president of experiential engagement, and Ann Marie Burke has been named director of experiential engagement.

Chakravarti previously served as assistant professor of management and marketing at IIT Stuart School of Business in Chicago.

Olson most recently worked as vice president, managing director of Magnify, the creative agency at mg, where he led the marketing strategy, digital, and 2D and 3D design teams.

Burke previously worked at mg’s internal creative agency, where she was director of experiential strategy.

Melanie Jaramillo, Miranda Fries, Kyley Neff, and Jacqueline Mackey

The Colorado Convention center has hired four new event managers who will support the planning, organization, and execution of over 250 events annually — Melanie Jaramillo, Miranda Fries, Kyley Neff, and Jacqueline Mackey.

Jaramillo, a Colorado native, previously held three positions within the Walt Disney Company.

Fries, also a Colorado native, attended Johnson & Wales University in Denver, and has experience working in events at Johnson & Wales, the Winter X-Games Festival, and Kroenke Sports.

Neff has been a tradeshow and conference operations coordinator with Informa for three years. Prior to that position, she worked in several roles at Hyatt Hotels.

Mackey has been with Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Connecticut since 2011, where she served in five positions. Most recently, she worked as the public events planner for events ranging from 150 to 20,000 attendees.

Shauna Goodman

Shauna Goodman has joined Visit San Antonio as associate director of Destination Experience. In this position, she will help lead San Antonio’s Destination Experience team in providing support for large meeting groups and forming partnerships with San Antonio’s meeting clients. Goodman has more than two decades of experience in account management, marketing, and workforce development. She most recently worked for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation with SA Works, a workforce development program.

Aaron Hazard

Emerald Expositions has announced that Aaron Hazard, a 10-year veteran sales executive for the National Stationery Show, has been appointed sales director of the newly repositioned event, which will now be co-located with the NY NOW Winter Market. Hazard, who has been responsible for attracting new exhibitors, will now also lead a team of sales staff, coordinate with the event’s marketing team, and develop a strategy to continuously improve the event.

Emily Hixon

Louisville Tourism has named Emily Hixon its new convention sales assistant. She will be responsible for coordinating leaders, collecting hotel responses, creating bid books, and organizing site visits for clients. Hixon is a graduate of the Western Kentucky Hospitality Program.

Matthias Schultze

The Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) has announced Matthias Schultze as the winner of the 2018 JMIC Profile and Power Award. Schultze serves as managing director of the German Convention Bureau. The award was given in recognition of Schultze’s “leadership role as a generator and distributor of effective, cooperatively generated research on the future of our industry, including measurements that will effectively document and demonstrate industry accomplishments over a wide range of areas,” according to a press release from JMIC.
