A taste for waste: Hospitality leaders’ lunch focuses on food redistribution

Food destined for landfill was on the menu at a ‘lunch with a difference’ hosted by Trident Hospitality Consultants in London. 


The event ‘No Planning – No Planet’ was held at Friends House, run by Quaker enterprise Quiet Company, and featured presentations from hospitality leaders discussing how the industry can work together to reduce food waste. 
UKHarvest, a food rescue and education charity, prepared the lunch using ingredients which were otherwise headed for the bin. The charity works to eliminate hunger and food waste by redistributing quality excess food and engaging with communities. 


Andrew Perolls CEO at Greengage who also supported the lunchtime event, said: “This was a fantastic start to create wider understanding of the issues as well as identifying practical solutions that can make a real difference” . Trident Hospitality plans to meet again early in 2022 to continue spreading the word on how to work together as clients, venues and agents to help reduce food waste.
