I’ve been with Eventtia for more than four years, and during all that time, we’ve launched a series of exciting initiatives. Many thanks to the co-founders for putting up with all of my crazy marketing ideas!  But there hasn’t been anything so breathtaking and inspiring than the project we’re cooking up right now in partnership with our friends from Spitche and MeltinLab.

What are we working on?

Well, we’re planning our first online event. What’s so cool about it? Not the logistics, for sure. No, the thing that makes this entire event so exciting is the opportunity to meet extraordinary people who are running unique projects with an impressive community impact.

I’m talking about the people from Chocó to Dance. I discovered this brand a few weeks ago, and I can’t believe I didn’t know about it earlier. But let me start with the beginning, and let’s take a quick imaginary trip to Chocó, one of the poorest regions of Colombia.

Chocó is a department of Colombia known for its large Afro-Colombian population, and it’s the only Colombian area to have coastlines on both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Its capital is Quibdó, and it contains Colombia’s entire border with Panama. According to 2018 data, Chocó’s poverty rate was 62.8%, the highest in the country. High unemployment rates and unmet basic needs are predominant in this region, leading to less access to education.

However, there’s one thing that Chocó people are best known for, and that’s their passion (and incredible talent) for … dance. That’s why, backed by the Fundación Juan Pablo Gutiérrez Cáceres, an entity that supports Colombian students with limited resources by granting scholarships for postgraduate studies, the Chocó to Dance project was created.

Chocó to Dance: Education in exchange for education

Chocó to Dance is an online dance academy in which youth from Chocó teach the world how to dance. It’s a brilliant social business idea based on providing online dance classes in exchange for a small monthly subscription. Subsequently, all of that subscription money goes to finance scholarships for students with limited resources.

“Education in exchange for education” is the core philosophy that sustains the activity of Chocó to Dance and the amazing team of dance teachers. There are currently 42 scholarships assigned to Colombian students who can continue their education thanks to people who want to learn how to dance. By providing online dance classes, Chocó to Dance is working directly on providing the necessary means to educate the next generation of leaders who’ll change society and improve the life conditions in Chocó.

What’s so awesome about this social business project is the idea of going internationally and using the online platform to touch the lives of people all around the world. That’s extremely relevant, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. And what’s truly inspiring about the people from Chocó to Dance is their energy and desire to share their passion for dance, along with the commitment of having a positive impact on the future of their region. That’s something one can’t miss. We’ve seen it countless of times during our event preparation meetings, and we hope you’ll feel it, too, during the 360° Digital & Marketing Summit, where they’re going to teach us all how to dance salsa, reggaeton, choke, and champeta.

Chocó to Dance and the 360° Digital & Marketing Summit

Yes, that’s right. We’ve decided to invite this remarkable crew of dancers to both inspire and get you, dear online attendee, to move a bit. Our event is packed with valuable and insightful sessions, and you’ll be spending quite a bit of time sitting in front of your computer. So why not take a fun break, get up out of your chair, and learn some new dance moves? This experiential session will show you that an online event can be as engaging and interactive as a physical event. Our intention is to make you feel comfortable and enrich your experience as much as possible.

Obviously, we won’t deny that physical events are different from the online ones, and nothing will replace in-person interaction. But online events give us the opportunity to experiment with new formats, hear from impressive guests, and design rare online experiences that we thought were impossible a few months ago.

Moreover, we want this experience to show you what’s possible when running an online event, so that you, too, can innovate and go beyond the expected with your digital events. We know that we’ll be followed by awesome marketing professionals, so we want to show all of you what’s possible in terms of experiential marketing. And what better partner for this than Chocó to Dance?

We can’t wait to share this experience with you!

The only thing you’ll need to do is to visit the event website and register. And during the event, while taking a break from the dense sessions, simply open your heart and let the Chocó to Dance team share their happiness and talent with you.
