At last year’s Event Tech Live, Milos Zikic, CEO and founder of SpiceFactory, and Karlis Skuja, CEO and co-founder of Botwiser, took to the Festival and Future stage to discuss the future of chatbots. Here, Milos and Karlis explored the best practices for successfully utilising chatbots for events.

Chatbots offer a fast and efficient means to communicate with a large quantity of people. This is beneficial for event organisers who will otherwise get inundated with enquiries from attendees.

Common questions surrounding parking, time, venue, facilities, etc., can all be answered automatically through a variety of messaging channels, such as Skype, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

By analysing the type of questions received from one event, organisers can develop the chatbot’s database to make it “smarter” for the next event.

Communicating with chatbots for information offers little to no human contact so bots can be programmed to answer / ask polite questions such as ‘how are you?’ This allows attendees to get a semblance of human interaction.

Conversations can be saved to the chatbot’s database, allowing the bot to send messages to attendees, post-event. This can be used for marketing purposes, such as gathering feedback or inviting people to future events.

Event Tech Live returns this year on 6th-7th November 2019 at the Old Truman Brewery. It is the only free-to-attend show dedicated to event technology in Europe. To register for updates, please see here.
