If you live for live music, then you know that right now, your favorite music venues and festivals need your help. Coronavirus (COVID-19) social distancing orders have left venues, music halls, nightclubs, bars, and more without shows on their calendar. Out of an abundance of caution, many have closed their doors altogether. This means that revenue from food, drink, and ticket sales is no longer coming in — threatening their employees’ livelihood and their ability to continue hosting the music you love.
To keep the lights on in this difficult time, many venues are turning to fundraisers, donation drives, or merchandise sales. Remember: Buying a ticket to a show, plus a drink at a venue’s bar and maybe a burger from their kitchen, means you support not only the artists and musicians you love to see on stage, but everyone on staff at the venue. That includes bartenders, security, janitorial staff, kitchen staff, box office staff, sound engineers, lighting technicians, production staff, and so many more. Each and every music venue is its own ecosystem, and they need your help to get through this period.
We encourage any and all fans who are financially able to contribute funds to your local venues. If the virus hadn’t turned the world upside down, you’d be out at your neighborhood venue catching your favorite musicians while enjoying a bite to eat and a drink or two. Consider donating what you would’ve spent on your night out to a fundraiser. You could even buy a gift card to share or use for later, and grab some merch to show support. Together we’ll get through this, and the show will go on.
We’re organizing venues that need your support by metro area. Read below to find local venues near you .
