After being welcomed to the Conference and Creativity stage at last year’s Event Tech Live, Meetings Booker CEO and founder, Ciaran Delaney, began his discussion into the online venue booking revolution.

Describing automation as “life-changing”, Ciaran used food, dating and travel apps as examples of how this type of technology has altered the way we conduct every day transactions: we can all now order a takeaway, book a hotel or meet someone new simply by using our smartphones.

Booking a meeting venue, however, has always been an offline affair. That is until Meetings Booker piled together 125,000 meetings venues from around the globe and brought them all together in one place.

Describing the Meetings Booker process as a “fast, easy, automated and seamless experience”, Ciaran explained the browsing, filtering and payments systems on the site has transformed the traditionally manual task.

Organisers can search for certain requirements such as dates, locations and capacity, before flicking through photos of the available venues. After deciding on a venue, the organiser can then get a quote and pay for the booking all without leaving the website.

Highlighting key trends, Ciaran finished by describing the prominent movements he’d noticed through the types of bookings being placed through the site. He informed the audience about the most popular types of venues and days to book meetings, referring to statistics from common searches.
