Because it’s Friday and we wanted to finish the week off on a light note, we pulled together a list of the top items event professionals cannot go without during an event.

Approaching the Delegate Wranglers Facebook group, Event Industry News asked, what’s in your event survival kit, to gauge what items event professionals deemed as essential for successfully making it through an event.

Gaining over 90 responses from professionals up and down the country, we discovered several telling trends.

Though alcohol, coffee and chocolate were all highly popular choices (naturally), there were numerous other items that gained multiple votes.

Some of the top-most common answers included power banks and spare pens, followed closely by decent footwear/spare shoes and scissors.

Gaffer tape and refillable water bottles were also highly-regarded as essentials while others voted that scissors were an indispensable item in the event profs’ survival kit.

Events Together Ltd named its essentials as the “event bible or operations manual”.

Michael Shaw, founder of MSJS Events, listed “Refillable litre water bottle, chewing gum, power bank, laptop, multivitamins, Sharpies and notepad” as some of his go-to pieces of kit.

Lavinia Moore, director at Events in a Box, listed “spare shoes, portable charger and a smile” as her ‘must-haves’.

Other ‘must-haves’ among event professionals included phone chargers, clipboards, torches, screwdrivers and cable ties.

Imagination, discipline, patience and a sense of humour were also considered crucial for surviving an event!
