The UK’s leading alternative and emergency water supplier Water Direct, shares its unmatched experience of last-minute events support.

It’s well known that event organisers are required to provide a suitable drinking water supply and are responsible for the quality of the water provided. It would be any event organisers worst nightmare come the day of an event, with people arriving, to suddenly find themselves facing a problem with the water supply…

What do you do, where do you turn and how do you get an alternative water supply to your event last minute?

Earlier this year, the company took a call from a national charity that was hosting a half marathon and had been let down by their bottled water provider on the morning of the event. Thousands of runners were due to set off within a matter of hours and having no water to provide them with was just about the worst scenario they could imagine.

With immediate effect Water Direct arranged a last-minute delivery of several thousand litres of quality-assured drinking water which arrived on site within just a couple of hours. The water was delivered before the start of the run and prevented cancellation of the event altogether.

Sven Parris Senior Sales & Marketing Manager at Water Direct said: â€śThis is what we do every day and our customers can rest assured they are in good hands. Reactive deliveries are what we do best, and we always strive to deliver the quickest and best service possible.”

Some circumstances are unforeseeable and bringing in an additional water supply as a contingency on site can also be a saving grace, ensuring you are prepared for any eventuality.

Whether there is an issue with the mains supply, the temporary supply has been consumed faster than expected, additional supplies are needed to meet increased demand, or you’ve been let down by your usual supplier; knowing where to find an alternative water supply could be just the last-minute-lifesaver you need. Not only will this keep your event-goers happy, it ensures their safety and prevents dehydration which could literally be lifesaving in certain circumstances.

Water Direct has worked with many event organisers who decide to bring in additional water supplies as a precaution if they suspect their onsite supply could potentially run out or not be able to meet the demand.

In the past year Water Direct has supported many mass participation and smaller scale events across the UK, including one in London where the organisers were committed to ensuring there was no risk of running out of water. The company was asked to provide 10 static water tanks placed at strategic locations across the 26-mile course. These were to serve as back up, in case demand exceeded the planned provision of drinking water.

Water Direct has also provided support to a five-day festival attended by around 175,000 people. The event requires extensive temporary infrastructure and, despite being exceptionally well organised, experienced an unexpected interruption to the drinking water supply to the glamping accommodation area. Hundreds of visitors might have been unable to drink, shower and enjoy the luxury catering without the company’s same-day delivery of 30,000 litres of water via tanker.

Water Direct’s support has provided peace of mind to hundreds of thousands of participants, performers and organisers alike, allowing them to enjoy music festivals, sporting, camping, automotive and other events without worrying about water.

Sven Parris concludes, â€śWater is such a critical part of our day-to-day lives and an essential component of events. Having a contingency on site, or an emergency contact number to hand takes away the additional stress and worry of how to deal with a water supply issue.”

“We have supported hundreds of events over the years and have become the industry leader in emergency drinking water provision nationwide. Operating 24/7 every day of the year, come rain or shine, the company is always on hand for urgent and last-minute requirements, providing bespoke solutions to suit the individual needs of each event.”
