Arlo is a Wellington Gold Awards finalist!

We’re over the moon to announce that we’re a finalist in the Wellington Gold Awards! A finalist in the Cyber Gold category alongside four other top-notch technology creators in the Wellington region. The Wellington Gold Awards recognize and celebrate business excellence in the wider Wellington region.

New Zealand may be at the bottom of the world when it comes to geographic locale, but technology companies are putting Wellington on the map. Home to successful tech companies like Xero, Volpara, Loomio, Optimal Workshop, Paperkite and, of course, Arlo Training Management Software.

“I’m beyond thrilled that Arlo has been announced as a finalist in the Wellington Gold Awards”, says Arlo CEO John Mitchell.

“Wellington has been compared to Silicon Valley and Singapore as a powerhouse for developing software start-ups, and the brands we’re up against in this category are global success stories. To be recognized as a top technology creator among the likes of Volpara, Paperkite and Optimal Workshop is a true honour.”

Here at Arlo, we’ve been in the business of technology creation since 2007, with a vision for an easier way to manage training businesses. Starting from a garage in Lower Hutt, we now have customers in over 70 countries, processing over $1b, more than 40 staff, and three offices (Wellington, London, Vancouver).

But what we do goes way beyond developing a piece of software – our purpose is ‘empowering the delivery of great learning’. Education is a powerful agent of change, contributes to social stability, drives long-term economic growth, and improves health and livelihoods. We provide software to a number of NGOs, including The Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa, which is expanding digital inclusion initiatives throughout New Zealand, Te Omanga Hospice, Hutt Chamber of Commerce, Wellington High School.

And with over 3.3m people trained using our software and a goal of 6M by the end of 2024, that’s a monumental contribution to global learning and development. We’re pretty darn proud of that!

We’re also proud of our ability to be truly agile and adapt quickly to the changing needs of our market.

In March 2020, COVID suddenly changed the way we interact and the way we learn. From face-to-face, to remote, flexible and online, the global training industry was forced towards more extensive use of technology to enable online learning.

At Arlo, we did everything we could to support our customers to adapt, to meet the rapidly changing market.

We quickly developed a robust, secure, native integration with Zoom to enable training providers to schedule live online webinars, and transition existing classroom courses to Zoom. We went beyond just providing the right technical product, to providing supporting resources such as written guides, webinars, government grant information, and even financial reprieve in the form of credits and discounts.

With 2020 firmly behind us, we look forward to grasping the new challenges of learning and development in a post-COVID world. We’re continuing to evolve our product to support modern learning, and continuing to empower our training providers to deliver great learning.

We’re excited to celebrate with all of the other incredible Wellington businesses as finalists at the Wellington Gold Awards dinner on Thursday July 29th.
