True love in tinsel town certainly seems a rarity. Couples seem to get together and break up faster than the tabloids can keep up. That being said, there are some Hollywood couples whose love has stood the test of time. Suffice to say, it’s inspirational and heartwarming to see two people commit to, and carry through with building a life together all while dealing with the pressures that comes with their celebrity status. This is even more true for some of our favorite same-sex celebrity couples so when we see these couples succeed and thrive, we can’t help but celebrate as well.  And in honor of pride month, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite same-sex weddings power couples.

If you love the story of “How I Met Your Mother”, we bet you’ll love the story of how Neil Patrick Harris (who plays Barney) met David Burtka. The two first met in 2004 as friends, but due to Neil’s beautiful blue eyes, David couldn’t help but find himself falling in love with Neil. After being in a relationship for 7 years, the two got engaged in 2011 and tied the knot in 2014. The two said their “I Do’s” at a destination wedding in Perugia, Italy which was super romantic.

It’s not a surprise that Ellen and Portia’s wedding is on our list. The famous power couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at their beautiful home in Los Angeles in August 2008, only a few months after California has legalized same-sex marriage. The two were not afraid to show their world their love for each other and have supported each other ever since.

We were so happy when we heard Jim Parson was getting married to his longtime partner of 15 years, Todd Spiewak. The two said their “I Dos” at the Rainbow Room in New York City on May 13th, 2017 in their white and red suits. You can feel the love from their wedding pictures but can we also talk about how gorgeous their wedding ceremony is? We just love that colourful arch.

After being one of the first country singers to come out to identify themselves as a member of the LGTBQ community, Chely Wright has found the love of her life, Lauren Blitzer. The two dated for a while and eventually tied the knot in a 200 guest ceremony in Connecticut in 2011.

Although we love Jesse Tyler’s on-screen relationship with Eric Stonestreet (who plays Cameron Tucker) on “Modern Family”, we can’t but admire how cute and lovely his real-life relationship is with Justin Mikita. The actor and the handsome lawyer first met at the gym and the rest, as they say, is history. The two soon got married at their lavish wedding in New York City on July 20, 2013. To this day, Jesse and Justin’s marriage is still going strong, and they are happily raising their 11-month-son, Beckett Mercer.

We can’t miss Elton John and David Furnish’s wedding on our list. The couple joined a civil union in 2005 and been together for 9 years before they finally tied knots in 2014 in the UK (when same-sex marriage was legalized). Their special day was filled with joy, love, and the red roses at their wedding also brought them luck. The power couple is still going strong with their marriage as they recently celebrated their 15 years of civil partnership and 6 years of marriage.
